About Us
Diagnostic Endoscopy, LLC opened in August 2001. Four Stamford, Conn., physicians embarked on their vision to open a free-standing ambulatory health care facility specializing in colorectal cancer screening and the treatment of various diseases involving the digestive tract.
Currently, the Diagnostic Endoscopy Center has expanded to nine physicians who serve patients from Fairfield, New Haven and Westchester counties, as well as the New York City metropolitan area.
Diagnostic Endoscopy Center is a State, Medicare and AAAHC accredited facility and is staffed by highly trained professionals with extensive experience in endoscopy procedures.m We have achieved a three-year recognition from the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE), for promoting quality in endoscopy.
We offer education for both the patient and their families about the ambulatory endoscopic experience.
Quality Healthcare
The doctors, nurses and staff of Diagnostic Endoscopy Center truly appreciate the confidence you have placed in us. Our physicians are Board Certified gastroenterologists, specialists who are experts in performing endoscopic procedures, such as colonoscopy, upper endoscopy and flexible sigmoidoscopy. All procedures are performed entirely by one of our physicians, not a resident or fellow in training. Additionally, our nurses and surgical technicians are trained and experienced professionals who are specialists in the field of gastrointestinal endoscopy. We are committed to providing our patients with the highest quality GI care available.
Quality Counts
Patient satisfaction at Diagnostic Endoscopy Center (DEC) is consistently 20 percent higher than Connecticut hospitals (when asking very similar questions)
- Our center is Medicare certified. All centers with Medicare certification are required to have a hospital admission transfer agreement with a nearby hospital.
- Our center is accredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care, Inc. (AAAHC). To receive this accreditation, the center undergoes a rigorous on-site survey that includes a comprehensive assessment of the center’s compliance with AAAHC standards – which include standards for anesthesia care services and surgical and related services.
- A patient who is considered high-risk is always referred to a hospital. Our center and the physicians who practice here follow national standards defined in the American Society of Anesthesiologist (ASA) Physical Classification guidelines. Other factors, including age and weight, beyond these guidelines are also considered.
Quality Committee
As part of our commitment to quality care, the management of Diagnostic Endoscopy Center implemented a Continuous Quality Improvement Process at its inception.
Each quarter, our Quality Committee reviews many items, including:
- Patient Satisfaction Review where survey results, patient comments and any complaints are addressed. Prior patient suggestions have led to the addition of a larger variety of magazines and a television in our reception area; alternative preparations for colonoscopy; and the hiring of a telephone consultant to help us make our phone system as “patient-friendly” as possible.
- Medical Records Review to be sure that our chart documentation is accurate and current.
- Tissue Review to be sure all biopsies are reported promptly and accurately.
- Credentials Review to verify that our doctors, nurses and medical staff have up-to-date training and licenses.
- Peer Review where our doctors review each other’s charts to be sure the best possible medical care is being provided.
- Pharmacy Review to verify proper storage and administration of all medications.
- Infection Control Review to verify proper equipment sterilization, and patient and employee safety in accordance with OSHA guidelines.
